Ак Барс без проблем справились с Торпедо в первом раунде прошедшего плей-офф. Казанцы затем разобрали Салават Юлаев в «зеленом дерби» в четырех встречах, но оступились на Авангарде в финале конференции. В принципе, Квартальнов выжал из «барсов» максимум, но болельщики всегда требуют Кубок Гагарина. Торпедо же, кажется, смирился с судьбой вылета в стартовых раундах – три года подряд с Немировским Нижний попадает в игры на выбывания, где быстро заканчивает выступление.
Если главком Ак Барса сохранил свой пост в межсезонье, значит руководство все еще ему доверяет, ведь казанцы местами принимали импульсивные решения из-за неожиданных неудач.
