Прошлогоднее чемпионство Лилля не помогло коллективу Гурвеннека в нынешней кампании, где он серьезно отстал от группы лидеров, в которой находится Ренн. Команда Генезио прекрасно атакует в текущей кампании, но потери на финальной части сезона отодвинули Ренн за пределы топ-4.
Мысли о возможной защите чемпионства в исполнении Лилля остались в мечтах фанатов после скорой продажи новоявленных чемпионов. Без Меньяна, Сумаре и тренера Галтье команда резко сдала, но классно показала себя на групповом этапе Лиги чемпионов, откуда вышла в плей-офф.

В декабрьском очном поединке Ренн уступил Лиллю, которому удалось хорошо завершить первый тайм. Тогда голами у гостей отметились Шека и Санчес, а хозяева отыграли один мяч в самой концовке, когда после удаления Генезио Буриго вернул партнеров в игру.
До поражений от конкурентов в середине апреля Ренн все еще претендовал на борьбу с Марселем за вице-чемпионство. Разгром Лорьяна с пятью безответными мячами и виктория над Сент-Этьеном не помогла команде Генезио подняться выше, так как потом она уступила Нанту.
Нестабильность Ренна рискует оставить коллектив без позиции в топ-4. Вторая атака Франции не хочет возвращаться в Лигу конференций, откуда она вылетела в плей-офф от Лестера.
Лилль – Ренн: гостям нужны голы
При определенном стечении обстоятельств Ренн еще способен обогнать Ниццу и Монако, запрыгнув тем самым на 3 строчку Лиги 1. Команде Генезио нужны голы, а слабая оборона Лилля – хорошая для этого мишень.
