Нынешний сезон станет едва ли не важнейшим в современной истории Севильи, которая, в отличие от Вильярреала, рискует упасть в группу середняков Ла Лиги. Даже с учетом недавних триумфов на международной арене, у команды Алмейды накопились долги.

Потенциальной проблемой для команды Алмейды может стать нехватка настоящего лидера. Конечно, у Севильи есть опытные игроки, вроде Аспиликуэты, Маркана и Гуделя, но их карьерный пик далеко в прошлом.

При Марселино у команды, напротив, серьезно улучшились результаты. Еще в позапрошлом розыгрыше Ла Лиги Вильярреал радовал зрелищностью, а Сорлот едва не выиграл гонку бомбардиров, а в минувшей кампании дошло до путевки в ЛЧ.
Игры с Атлетико (0:2) и Тоттенхэмом (0:1) не принесли фанатам радости, но это оппоненты совсем другого уровня. С Овьедо (2:0), Жироной (5:0) и Сельтой (1:1) у Вильярреала шла игра в атаке, но она и допускала моменты.
С начала 2024 года отмечается доминирование одной из сторон в очных битвах. Севилья потерпела от Вильярреала три поражения кряду, пропустив в этих играх суммарно девять мячей (2:3, 1:2 и 2:4).
