Прекрасный ход Борнмута прервался в поединке против Лутона не по игровой причине, поскольку капитан новичка АПЛ Локьер потерял сознание, а встречу придется переиграть – подобный ход событий может пойти на руку Фулхэму. Стабильная игра Борнмута как будто осталась незаметной из-за мощного голевого рывка лондонцев. После выигрыша у Вулверхэмптона (3:2) Фулхэм почти остановил Ливерпуль на «Энфилде» (3:4) а затем по 5:0 одолел Ноттингем Форест и Вест Хэм.
